Kularts Tribal Tour 2018
#TBT Preparing for the final day of IPAT, a Maguindanaon ritual. Three nights and a day of ritual, music, dance and ceremony. There's just something about connecting to the divine, while building stronger relationships with others and creating a transformative space for yourself, to expand your spirit and mind. So thankful to finally explore my OWN ancestral heritage in this way. This was my final day being with my @kulartspresents Tribal Tour 2018 fam... I wore a head covering almost everyday and greeted many with "Assalamualaikum" in respect of those with the Islamic faith.
Thank you to all the indigenous, muslim, non-muslim tribes of Mindanao who shared a little bit about your world with us and welcomed us with open hearts... thanks for accepting my palaging baliktad tagalog when I should also be speaking Tausug, Sama, Visaya, Maguindanoan and/or another dialect of Mindanao. I am so grateful to @alleluiasfprojects for your guidance, leadership, process and for helping me correct my "angry" Tagalog haha. To my T-Tur homies, thank u for your crazy love and friendships. Couldn't have embarked on this journey without ya'll. Shout out to @parangaldancecompany for introducing me to Philippine Folkloric dance.
