SF Ethnic Dance Festival 2018
So honored to have shared the stage with soooo many inspirational folks this weekend at the 40th Ethnic Dance Festival in San Francisco. We performed for about 6,000 people at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House and I am not even exaggerating. Thank you to all those who came out to show their love, support and everyone who made this weekend happen. Let's continue dancing for ourselves, the living and for those who came before us. #PassingOnOurStories
Rachel Howard at SF Gate explained it best, "Sunday was American culture at its highest potential: a mosaic of immigrant song and dance, passed down through ancestors, evolving into new spiritual practices and celebrations, held in community without fear or threat." Cheers to ALL our EDF fellow performers: AguaClara Flamenco, Arenas Dance Company, Bolivia Corazón de América, Chitresh Das Youth Company (accompanied by the Toronto Tabla Ensemble), Ensambles Ballet Folklórico de San Francisco (accompanied by Vinic-Kay), Leung’s White Crane Lion & Dragon Dance Association, Nunamta Yup’ik Eskimo Singers and Dancers, Parangal Dance Company, Sandor Diabankouezi, Te Pura O Te Rahuraʽa, Ye Feng
Parangal Dance Company's production was inspired by the Meranao traditions of the Philippines and the Darangen epic Episode 8: Kiyaprawa a ko Arkat Lawanen.
